In conjunction with IOSCO’s World Investor Week 2023,the Hub organised a workshop panel discussion on financial influencer (“finfluencer”) regulation which covered key topics: what constitutes a ‘finfluencer’, broker-dealer roles in relation to public communication responsibilities, the impact of social media on Gen-Z investors and their financial decision-making, behavioral insights such as parasocial relationships, the importance of disclosure and media literacy, leveraging on technology for investor education, as well as the need for global cooperation in harmonising regulations for finfluencers’ activities.

The IOSCO Technical Assistance Workshop on Developing Enforcement Manuals for the Asia-Pacific region will be hosted by the IOSCO Asia Pacific Hub in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, on 17-18 October 2023. This 2-day Workshop aims to be a practical discussion with regard to different approaches taken with respect to enforcement manuals and to provide a forum for sharing experiences in implementing such manuals so far.

Derivatives play a critical role in modern financial ecosystems as instruments for managing risk and facilitating price discovery. They also play a significant role in the capital market development for emerging and developing market jurisdictions by allowing end-users to better manage their business and financial risks.

IOSCO is pleased to collaborate with the International Swaps and Derivatives Association (ISDA) on a Training Workshop on Policy Framework for Safe and Efficient Derivatives Activity in Emerging and Developing Markets. In this training workshop, participants from emerging and developing markets will be equipped with the knowledge to develop an appropriate framework for secure and efficient derivatives activity in their jurisdictions.

This 1.5-day training workshop builds on the extensive experience of ISDA in this area and the relevant IOSCO work to date and will be hosted by the IOSCO Asia Pacific Hub in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, from 20 – 21 September 2023.
