It will offer insights into enforcement strategies and investor education initiatives, as well as how behavioural science can help investors make safer investment choices. The session aims to enhance understanding of safeguarding investments and improving financial literacy against sophisticated online threats in today’s digital financial landscape.

The 1.5-day in person Workshop organised by IOSCO Asia Pacific Hub will examine the driving forces shaping today’s surveillance landscape and explore current approaches and best practices from regulators and industry experts, covering topics such as monitoring crypto markets, social media and the use of Al and other technological developments in relation to surveillance.

In conjunction with IOSCO’s World Investor Week 2023,the Hub organised a workshop panel discussion on financial influencer (“finfluencer”) regulation which covered key topics: what constitutes a ‘finfluencer’, broker-dealer roles in relation to public communication responsibilities, the impact of social media on Gen-Z investors and their financial decision-making, behavioral insights such as parasocial relationships, the importance of disclosure and media literacy, leveraging on technology for investor education, as well as the need for global cooperation in harmonising regulations for finfluencers’ activities.

The IOSCO Technical Assistance Workshop on Developing Enforcement Manuals for the Asia-Pacific region will be hosted by the IOSCO Asia Pacific Hub in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, on 17-18 October 2023. This 2-day Workshop aims to be a practical discussion with regard to different approaches taken with respect to enforcement manuals and to provide a forum for sharing experiences in implementing such manuals so far.
